cross-2Clemens Selected for Shrine Bowl Run

White Knoll’s cross country standouts Johnny Clemens and Brawnwyn Koellner turned in two of the best performances ever by White Knoll High School runners on Saturday, November 5th at the 5A State Cross Country Meet at Sandhills Research Center on Clemson Road. Both runners ran personal bests for the Sandhills course, and Koellner’s time of 20:42 knocked 24 seconds off of her previous personal best on any 5K course. She finished 50th overall. Clemens’ time of 16:30 was only 4 seconds off his personal best for a 5K and was good for 17th place, narrowly missing All-State honors. Clemens concludes his Timberwolf cross country career as the No. 2 runner in school history behind only former teammate Bryan Grumbach, who went on to run at Clemson.

Based upon his outstanding performance at the state meet,  Clemens has been selected for the 31st Annual Mike Moore Shrine Bowl Run on December 17th. This event honors the top senior runners in the state and helps the Shriners raise money for their children’s hospital. The 30 boys and 12 girls on this year’s team will carry two game balls in a relay from Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville to Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College in Spartanburg for the annual Shrine Bowl football game. The Shrine Bowl runners are escorted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and are managed by the Shriners of the Jamil Temple. Congratulations to Johnny Clemens and his family on his selection for this.
